Battlefield Guiding

Imagine standing on the spot where King Harold died at the battle of Hastings or where Rommel crossed the Meuse. See the same view of the landscape as the Lancastrian army before the Battle of Towton, or German tank ace Michael Wittmann before he destroyed over twenty vehicles in one ferocious charge! Now you can! As an experienced battlefield guide I can take you to all these spots and more.

However many books you read, the only real way to understand a battle is to stand on its field.

I am a respected, experienced military historian with a Masters Degree in “Britain in World War Two”. I have a Level four PTTLS certificate in adult education, and a member of both the Guild of Battlefield Guides and the Battlefields Trust. I am also a published author and an acknowledged expert on the Italian Campaigns of World War Two. A tour of a battlefield can be tailored to suit your requirements, from a single battle to whole campaigns, individuals to whole bus tours.

For the longer tour, other relevant sites such as castles and museums can also be included. Each tour is far more than a simple guided walk. The background to the battle, tactics of the time, the opposing commanders and their forces, weapons and the immediate aftermath will be examined in detail. Participants will also be given specially prepared handouts that will include maps and biographical details.
